At WiseWerk, we primarily focus on the development of technological innovations for the forestry and wood-processing sector. Thanks to four generations of experience across the entire value chain – from timber harvesting to the processing of final products – we are able to provide qualified services in the design of technological solutions and manufacturing processes.
Our focus is on so-called disruptive technologies, i.e. solutions that significantly transform established practices within the industry and provide processors with a competitive advantage. We test and validate disruptive technologies and innovative production processes under real semi-operational conditions.
WiseWerk also acts as a bridge between scientific and research organizations and industrial partners, combining its internationally developed industry network with the global scientific community.
Responsible Approach
We place strong emphasis on sustainability and the responsible use of natural resources. For the purposes of our wood-research activities, we purchase and use timber from responsibly managed entities and ensure that it originates from verified and certified sources. We are holders of the FSC® certificate (FSC®-SGSCH-COC-210069), which guarantees that our products come from sustainable forest management and meet the strictest environmental standards set by the Forest Stewardship Council®.
In this way, we contribute to forest protection, support ecological balance, and ensure that our operations are aligned with the principles of responsible business conduct.
Problem
Traceability, i.e., tracking the flow of materials across the entire value chain.
Goal
To create a system for automatic data collection and analysis, aggregating every process within the processing value chain.
Outcome
Hardware for automatic data collection and a central database for aggregating data, along with an application for analysis and reporting.
Digital Timber Grading
Problem
Manual measurement and assessment of timber quality, which is largely dependent on the human factor, subjective, and therefore inefficient and inaccurate.
Goal
Objectivize and standardize the process, fully automate and digitize it.
Outcome
Streamlined processes and the creation of a digital standard for mobile timber grading, as well as an information system for collecting measurement data and generating outputs for forestry and wood-processing sector partners.
Optimization of Primary Wood Processing
Problem
Processing of deciduous trees, which have a higher number of defects, makes accurate and productive detection of especially internal hidden defects challenging.
Goal
Improve and fully automate the detection of internal and surface defects, particularly in economically important Central European tree species, and optimize their primary processing.
Outcome
Software that accurately evaluates internal and surface defects, providing data to primary processing technologies to create an optimal processing plan.
